Lunch Duty

I also have lunch duty.  I can actually say this is my least favorite assignment.  Students are loud and at first walking all over the cafeteria; I quickly changed that!  I monitor Kindergarteners and 1st graders during my lunch duty.  Once the kindergartners are finished eating, they put their heads down.  This experience helped me realize that the lunch monitors need training on discipline.  Students finish their lunch before the teachers, and next…play time!  There should be an activity for the students to do after they finish eating their lunch.  Rules need to be posted and addressed throughout the school year.  Since starting lunch duty, behavior has decreased.  Students are not walking around the cafeteria.  The monitors have improved on their discipline as well.  Action speaks louder than words.  I was positive with the lunch monitors, and I showed them what to do.  That’s what education is all about…A CONTINUAL LEARNING PROCESS!
