This year I started doing morning duty. I stand by the cafeteria door to make sure students go to breakfast or the auditorium. Students come into the building wide open, making a lot of noise and being disrespectful. Once the students see me, they calm down. I also get a lot of hugs! And I gave a lot of hugs as well. I always tell the students to have a “good day!” I enjoy morning duty because it gives me time to interact with all students. I have learned their names, and most of the students know my name. The morning behavior problems have decreased, which motivates the students to start their day off in the right direction. There’s not much I can change with morning duty. I will just continue to shine bright for the students, and send that wave of positive energy throughout the building.
