Nervous Teachers

It was the end of the day.  I did a walk through today in a Language Arts lesson.   It was very interesting to be on the “other side.”  The teacher was nervous and kept “shu-cing”  her class repeatedly.  I did not know if that was normal or if she was nervous. I looked at her at the gave her a smile.  I wanted her to feel relieved and calm about my visit.  As teachers, we do get nervous when administration walks into the classroom unexpectedly to observe us.  I want teachers to feel calm when I enter the classroom.  I already know that the students are going to start talking more, and doing things that they normally do not do.  It was a pleasure to visit that 2nd grade classroom.  I want all teachers to feel comfortable and at ease when I enter their presence.
